ABOUT SNEEM

Sneem village is located between the mountains and the sea on the Ring of Kerry and the Wild Atlantic Way adjacent to the Kerry International Dark Skies Reserve.

Sneem, whose Gaelic name means “the Knot”, is full of colourful houses and has two little squares separated by a bridge.  At a turbulent time in his life, Charles de Gaulle escaped to Sneem, where he said “I was at peace with myself”.

The village has many famous visitors including George Bernard Shaw, Grace Kelly, and in 2014, the film “The Lobster” was being shot at various locations around here.  Colin Farrell, John C. Reilly, Rachel Weiss and Daniel Craig were seen around Sneem.

Many people come to Sneem for a holiday and stay forever, it’s that type of place.
